With the past month of GDC in San Francisco and attending PAX East and Anime Boston in Boston (natch) the progress of the One Week/Game project has been derailed slightly so to speak. But regardless of those events, hitting my goal of releasing a game every week even during normal times has come up a little short.
But the goal of the One Week/Game project never was to make a fully-functional polished game every week. Instead the goal was to explore different mechanics and systems for games on a regular basis and release those concepts or prototypes for others to play around with. I quickly strayed away from that goal, but now I think its time to get back to that.
So moving forward the focus of OW/G will shift accordingly. Instead of full-fledged games every week I’ll be working towards shells of games that explore some mechanic or system I happen to be interested in that week. Some of these “games” will be stupid simple and may not even have real win or lose states, but doing this will be more interesting for me and for everyone else.
